Winter Meeting

The winter meeting of the AMSGNY will take place on Saturday, January 24th at Columbia University.  The theme for the meeting is “Funny Music.”  We are seeking proposals for 20 minutes papers on any aspect of humor in music--defined however you would like to.  Possible topics include musical jokes; satire, irony, and sarcasm in music; the setting of humorous texts; funny music that wasn’t intended to be funny; humorous performance situations; etc.

To propose a paper, follow these rules:

  1.  Send a 200 word abstract by December 16th.
  2. Paste the proposal into the e mail--no attachments.
  3. In the subject line, write “AMSGNY meeting winter 2015.”
  4. Include your name, affiliation, e mail address, and phone number in the e mail.
  5. Indicate if you are a paid-up member of the Greater New York Chapter.  If you are not, you will need to become a member prior to the meeting.  To become or renew your membership, click on the "membership" tag above.
