Paul-André Bempéchat, recently recorded the first two of six radio programs on Jean Cras, the impressionist composer, for Radio-Courtoisie, a classical radio station in Paris. The first two programs will be broadcast on July 18 at 2 p.m. EST and July 25 at 2 p.m. EST (8 p.m. Central European Time.) The broadcasts will be in French. The programs will be rebroadcast on July 19 and 26 at 1:30 p.m. EST (7:30 Central European Time.) To listen to the interview, please visit http://www.radiocourtoisie.net/tempo.
The radio broadcasts will be based on Bempéchat's recently published biography entitled Jean Cras, Polymath of Music and Letters. The biography highlights the significance of Jean Cras' musical compositions to the history of modern French music and, at the same time, draws attention to the humanist Jean Cras and his military career, which reaffirms this composer as a true Rennaissance man of the twentieth centruy.
